My Pacers
Home Up

Here the pictures of almost all the Pacers I ever had, with a small history about each!

The very first one, was just a picture in the annual catalogue of the French magazine L'Auto-Journal, dating back to 1975, and my love for Pacers began with this picture! Isn't she BEAUTIFUL?

My second Pacer was... a miniature from Corgi Junior Toys!

Unfortunately, I don't have any picture of my FIRST FULL SCALE TRUE PACER!
It was a gray metallic wagon I did bought in Geneva, which took fire 20 kms after I bought! My father tried hard to bring it back on streets, but once he had finished all the work, the engine broke down! It was time, money and hope wasting!
To be precise: about 80 hours work, at least 1500 SFR (about 1100$) the price of the car....
Because of this situation, we searched, better said I searched, as my father always tried to keep me away from those "balls on wheels"!, another engine, which we found in a another Pacer!

This time it was the good shot:
2000 SFR and some small body work and may be 10 hours work at all and I could drive away in my dreams!

She drove me thousands miles around Europe for not less the 6 years, across France, Spain, Germany, Holland, Switzerland and of course across Jura!
All that with her 252ci 6 cyl engine. The Car is now waiting to be restored in Herzogenbuchsee where my friend Christian will restore and tune it!
I did needed some spare pieces that I took on a unfortunately too rusted Pacer that I bought 500 SFR, my Blue Pacer!
While I was on trip in the USA for the second time, in 1992, the workshop where she was staying sell it (but I never sow any cent.....) to a youth Motocross organization which made a demonstration of their ability... on it! What a shame, but there was too many misunderstanding and as I did make trouble to anybody I had to let it go......

I bought another Pacer, a pink one 3500 SFr in 1992, but changed my mind three days later!

Until today, I still don't understand how stupid I was not to buy it! Again too late to have regrets, this car is rusting since 5 years in a backyard... No hope anymore to restore it, or no real mood to try!

I bought in 1996 a Pacer that is now to go in Germany to become a donor car...

First problem, after one month driving it, the water pump broke out and finally, as I didn't knew enough about engine science, I killed the engine right away! Fortunately for me, some nice people gived to me an again too rusted Pacer for free, a beautiful wagon!

Again I had with regrets too part it out, but saved as much as possible on it. We did managed to exchange the engine to my Brown hatchback so it worked well again!
Here you see my father, my brother Simeon, one of our neighbor and me of course taking out the broken engine......

Then until 1998, no real adventures!

In May 1998, I could borough my DREAM: A V8 Hatchback!

There is quit a few to do on it, like restore the engine, even if it drive well, but not enough well for the technical controls!
I bought it 1300 SFr, and while I showed it to a friend, he told me he had seen exactly the same car in Munchenstein, 30kms away!
I went there straight away and effectively there was another white V8 Pacer, I contacted the owner, and he didn't wanted to sell it.... Well at that time! Three months later he phoned me at home, asking if I still wanted it!
Of course! And so I bought that V8 Pacer in good condition for 5000 SFr and drive it on sunny days!
Here my V8 while we had a Pacer meet for the TV VOX in Germany, doing a report on Pacer, It was one of my best Pacer Day of my short live!

My other, first V8 has been parted out, as it was too rusty and to much to do on it. It died in 2002.

Lastly, I did get a rusted blue 76 Pacer from an artist here in Jura who bought it in California and brought it back here. Funny, it's the first Pacer I did ever see in my short life a few years ago!

The Rust was such wide spread on it, that we parted it out! The engine had only 77'000 miles on it and is still running well!
